Stephen Malki, DMD, owner of Malki Dental in River Edge, knew he wanted to be a dentist since he was in high school.
“My family dentist was my inspiration,” he said. “I enjoy knowing that each day I help improve my patients’ health,”
Malki graduated from UMDNJ in 1997 and finished his general practice residency at Jersey City Medical Center. He’s a fellow of numerous organizations, including the Academy of General Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Less than 5 percent of all dentists in America can match Malki’s credentials.
Malki previously had a practice in Oradell for 11 years before deciding to move to River Edge for more room.
“I found my new space in River Edge to be close enough for my patients,” he said. “It offers convenience in location and parking.”
Other advancements in the new office are an array of new equipment, such as lasers that detect cavities and oral cancer.
“These tools help us provide our patients with superior care and have enabled us to uphold our promise to provide the ideal possible care available in the field of dentistry,” Malki said. Malki Dental also added more hours and an associate dentist so patients have an easier time making appointments.
The office is paperless and dedicated to being environmentally friendly.
“All of our charts are digitized and we have installed LED lighting throughout the office for more energy efficiency,” Malki said. The office also stopped using harmful X-ray developing chemicals.
Core values are the foundation of Malki Dental.
“We firmly believe in our purpose, which is to educate and inform our patients about their oral health and provide them with high quality and complete dental care that will last a lifetime,” he said.
Malki is one of only a few dentists locally who performs dental implant surgery and gives final restoration.
“All aspects of implant dentistry are finished within the office,” he said. Malki Dental also has a CAT scan machine in the office so that patients do not need to be referred out to receive X-rays.
A special feature at Malki Dental is computer assisted design (CAD) crowns. With this method, patients receive crowns in one appointment.
“You no longer have to wait two weeks for a crown, bite into any gooey impression materials, or deal with temporary crowns,” Malki said. “When the procedure is demonstrated to patients, they are amazed by the technology.”
The family practice offers all facets of general dentistry, such as bridges, veneers, root canal therapy, extractions and dental cleanings. Additional services include porcelain fillings, Zoom Teeth Whitening and Invisalign. One-visit crowns, fillings and implants are Malki’s most commonly requested services.
Most of Malki’s patients are residents of neighboring towns, but the office also has people come from throughout Bergen County. Some have even travelled from as far away as California.
One of Dr. Malki’s favorite success stories involves a patient who was a former drug addict and in recovery while seeing Malki for dental work.
“After treatment was completed, the family thanked me, telling me they felt that all the care he received in our office and his newfound confidence in his smile has helped stay clean and off drugs,” .Malki said. “It’s a great feeling knowing that you have helped improve someone’s oral health, smile and more importantly, his life.”
Malki Dental is located at 111 Kinderkamack Road in River Edge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. For more information, call 201-262-4990.
