This is a course at Jordan Hospital for fourth- and fifth-graders. A three-hours course, children speak about fears and find solutions, they learn about safety to and from school, phone and food safety, first aid and Heimlich, as well as preventing emergencies. The Moms Club, an international support group for at-home mothers, is celebrating its ninth month in the Carver area. The club has been extremely successful and its members are very much enjoying all the club has to offer. The , funded by the Department of Mental Health and managed by BAMSI (a private non-profit human service organization, which serves people in south-eastern Massachusetts), is a parent support program designed by parents and professionals challenged by children’s mental health, emotional and/or behavioral needs. Meetings are held as follows: Plymouth, second and fourth Wednesday of month (evening); Kingston: first Friday of month (afternoon); Carver: Last Friday of month (afternoon). South Shore Hospital’s Community Exercise Program classes
Child/Teen Conditioning – Offered for ages 7-14, Mondays in the gym at 780 Main St., 4-4:45 p.m. and Wednesdays in the pool at South Shore Hospital, 4:15-5 p.m.
Yoga Programs –Beginner Yoga, Yoga for Cancer Patients and Senior Yoga available.
Beginner Yoga – Tuesdays at South Shore Hospital, 5 p.m., $8 per class or $40 per five-week session.
Yoga for Cancer Patients – Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-4:30 p.m. or Mondays and Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m., $ 8 per class. At South Shore Hospital.
Senior Yoga – Fridays at 780 Main St., Weymouth, from 11 to 11:45 a.m., $8 per class or $40 per five-week session.
Prenatal Exercise – Pool-based exercise available to women at any stage of pregnancy with doctor clearance. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursday, 6-6:45 p.m. $7 per class.
Women’s Aquatic Conditioning Class – This women-only program, held in the 92-degree therapy pool at South Shore Hospital, focuses on cardiovascular conditioning and improving flexibility. This is held 5-6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The fee is $70 for a five-week session.
Stretch and Tone – This pool and gym program is conducted by a clinical exercise physiologist and designed for individuals looking to lose/maintain weight and condition. The class is held Mondays, 2-3 p.m., in the pool at South Shore Hospital, and from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays at the 780 Main St., Weymouth gym. The fee is $70 for a five-week session.
WIC (Women, Infants and Children) is a nutrition program that provides health education, healthy food and other services free of charge to Massachusetts’ families who qualify. Its goal is to keep pregnant and breast-feeding women and children under 5 healthy by providing nutrition consultations and vouchers to purchase healthy food. The Plymouth WIC is located at 123-1 Camelot Drive. Call 508-747-4933 for information. ·Pre-op joint-replacement class: Prepares the pre-op patient for joint surgery; topics include review of physical therapy, occupational therapy, equipment and discharge planning; classes are the first Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. at Jordan Hospital.

Quincy College expands Plymouth campus
The owners of Cordage Commerce Center announce the expansion of the Quincy College campus in Plymouth. The college’s move from downtown Plymouth to Cordage in 2005 granted them to expand their Plymouth location by offering students a new state-of-the-art facility, ample parking and amenities such as two restaurants, a coffee shop, GATRA bus service and onsite MBTA commuter rail with direct access to Boston. The 8,375-square-foot facility will be increased by 5,300 square feet giving them a total of 13,700 square feet. The space will include a new science lab, classrooms and office space. Deborah Meyers, principal at Paramount Partners LLC represents the owners, JD Cordage LLC.
Jordan Hospital provides free primary care and anonymous counselling and testing for persons living with HIV/AIDS in Greater Plymouth through a federal Ryan White CARE Act (Title III) allow for Early Intervention Services. The CARE Act is funded through the AIDS Bureau of the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Referred to as the “ACCESS” Program, the collection of programs and services offered under the allow provide AIDS Comprehensive Care Education and Support Services. Through this program, patients can receive primary care services including physical examinations; treatment services and planning; laboratory testing; immunizations and screening; antiviral medications; referrals to specialty care and clinical trials as well as medical case management. Alzheimer’s Support Group – Plymouth
This group is a support group for family and friends of patients with Alzheimer’s. The group meets the first Tuesday of the month, at Stafford Hill, 60 Stafford St., Plymouth. For information, call Caitlin Bates at 508-746-4343 ext. 298.

The Greater Plymouth Lupus Group will meet at the Bourne Council on Aging, 239 Main St., Buzzards Bay, from 1 to 3 p.m., the second Monday of each month. Meetings are open to patients, family members and friends. Registration is not required. For those interested: Lunch is served prior to the meeting, at the Bourne Council on Aging for a nominal fee and reservations must be made by calling 508-759-0653. meetings take place Thursday evenings, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., at Jordan Hospital. This is a 12 Step Recovery Program. A gambler is permitted to take along a spouse, friend, coworker, etc. to his/her first meeting for moral support and/or out of logistical need. Protection of a gambler’s anonymity is fundamental and remains the guiding principal of the program. The only requirement for GA membership is a desire to stop gambling. There are absolutely no dues or fees for membership or continued participation.
