Meijer Launches ‘Order to Store’ Program

Merging on-line and in-store shopping, Meijer is introducing a program that grants shoppers to place an order at Meijer.com and have the merchandise shipped – at no cost – directly to their local Meijer store for pickup.

The on-line program grants shoppers to designate which Meijer store they would like to use as their pick-up location. Once the order is received by the store, the customer will receive e-mail notification when the items are ready for pickup. Items also can be returned to that local store. All orders include free shipping.

“This is another example of how Meijer is making the on-line shopping experience as convenient and inexpensive as possible for our customers,” stated Rick Keyes, Meijer executive VP of supply chain operations and e-commerce. “Not only are we eliminating shipping costs, we’re also enabling shoppers to return the items to their local stores. This is a money- and time-saving program that grants even more customers to take advantage of the great offerings we have at Meijer.com.”

The program accepts on-line coupons and guarantees delivery within five to seven days of the order, though most orders are received within three days. Customers pay for their orders on-line before pickup.

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer operates 195 supercenters and grocery stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
