Health-care professionals in Sask. back at work
PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – About 60 healthcare professionals in Prince Albert, Sask., who took part in job action to back contract demands have returned to their posts.
The workers – members of the Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan – set up picket lines in the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region Monday morning after a strike notice was issued last Friday.
The association states in a release that the workers are now back on the job and that its negotiating committee will be meeting in Saskatoon with representatives of health employers.
It also states the question of further job action will be discussed following the meeting.
The 3,000-member union includes addictions counsellors, dietitians, pharmacists, psychologists, public health inspectors and health professionals in several other fields.
Talks resumed late last month on their first contract in two years, but negotiations broke off quickly and the union asked for a third-party arbitrator.
