Ampac snaps Swiss packaging converter Elag

Film maker Ampac has acquired Swiss packaging converter Elag Verpackungen. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Based in Kirchberg, Switzerland, and founded in 1956, Elag specialises in high-quality printed bags and pouches. Eighty percent of its products are exported, according to the company website.
Elag’s senior management will continue in their present roles, according to the release. The company employs about 200 in Switzerland and France, with sales offices in Germany, the UK and US.
“Ampac’s acquisition of Elag has further advanced our global abilities and provided additional resources for the development of innovative packaging ideas,” stated John Baumann, president and CEO of Cincinnati-based Ampac.
Ampac specialises in films, bags and pouches for food and beverage, pet food, health and beauty, lawn and garden, and pharmaceuticals. It employs more than 500 at 12 locations in the US, Europe and China.
